About this Blog

Hi! I'm Michelle and/or Sister Shaver and/or Soeur Shaver and/or Hermana Shaver. I am from British Columbia, Canada, and I have been called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canada, Montréal mission and I have been assigned to preach the gospel in the Spanish language. The purpose of this blog is to make it easier for family and friends to keep up with my adventures while I'm gone! While I am in the mission field, this blog will be updated once a week by my lovely parents.

Why I am serving a mission

The decision to serve a mission was not an easy one. I am not someone who always knew that serving a mission would be right for me. I'm not even someone whose mind was made up when the "age change" happened. Towards missionaries, I always had the attitude of, "Well that's great for them, but it's not for me." It wasn't until my early teens that I started to seriously contemplate serving a mission. When I was fifteen years old, I prayed sincerely to know whether or not I should go. That day, I received an answer. From then on, I knew I needed to serve. A lot of little complications came up along the way, but in the end Heavenly Father always steered my back towards serving a mission. I am so blessed to have received so many confirmations that I am doing what He wants me to do at this time in my life.

I am serving a mission because it is the desire of my heart to share the message of hope, peace, love, and joy that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Redeemer.  I know that Heavenly Father knows exactly who I am and has a plan for me. Time and time again, He has heard and answered my prayers. Everything that I am, I owe to Him. Most importantly, I firmly believe that He loves me. I am serving a mission because I believe that every human being on Earth deserves to have this knowledge too.
